We love that you’re using AI. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and the rest are genuinely useful for getting ideas out of your head and onto a page. We use them too.
This note explains how we work with AI content so your website stays fast, findable, and stable.
AI is brilliant for ideas. It’s not a publishing tool.
When an AI tool generates a block of HTML and tells you to “send this to your web designer to upload,” it’s giving you confident advice about a process it can’t see. Your website isn’t a blank page. It runs on a CMS with a page builder, a structured menu, SEO controls, internal linking, version history, and a consistent brand style. Raw HTML dropped into that environment sits outside all of it.
Here’s what actually happens to an HTML page uploaded outside the CMS:
- It doesn’t appear in your navigation menu, so visitors can’t find it.
- It bypasses your SEO setup, so it has no SEO title, meta description, or schema. Google treats it as an orphan.
- It ignores your brand styling, so fonts, colours, and spacing break.
- It has no version history, so if something goes wrong, there’s no clean rollback.
- Nobody can tell who added it or when, which becomes a real problem on a site we’re responsible for keeping secure and stable.
What this means for your ongoing annual services
Your hosting, maintenance, and support exist to keep the site fast, secure, backed up, and ranking. Content that’s bolted on outside the CMS undermines every one of those.
We can’t guarantee the performance or security of pages we didn’t build through the proper pipeline, and we won’t put your rankings at risk to save a step.
How to use AI in a way that genuinely speeds things up
Use AI to tell us what you want, not to build what you want. The most useful things you can send us:
- A clear brief: what the page is for, who it’s aimed at, the key points it needs to make.
- Draft copy as plain text or a Google Doc. We’ll edit, tighten, and place it properly.
- A rough wireframe or sketch of the layout you’re picturing. Even a hand-drawn box layout helps our designers enormously.
Send us the thinking. We’ll handle the building. That’s the part you’re paying us for, and it’s the part that keeps your site working.
A prompt to make AI work for you
If you’d like to use AI to prepare content, copy and paste the prompt below into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. It keeps the AI focused on giving us clear direction rather than code we can’t use.
THE PROMPT
I’m preparing content for a page on my existing website. My web agency builds the page for me, so I do NOT need HTML, code, or anything technical. Do not generate code. Do not tell me to upload anything.
Instead, help me produce two things my designer can work from:
- A content brief in plain text. Include: the page’s purpose, who it’s for, the main message, the key points it needs to cover, and any calls to action. Keep the copy tight. Aim for the fewest words that do the job, not the most.
- A simple wireframe described in plain text, top to bottom. List the sections in order (for example: hero heading, intro paragraph, three benefit blocks, testimonial, contact button) so my designer can see the intended layout.
Ask me questions if you need detail. Keep everything concise and free of filler. The goal is clear direction my agency can build from, not a finished page.
